In an effort to do our part to support to shift to Green-based business practices, we have launched our FLAC download section of our shopping cart. As you may already be aware, it is important to work with our soundscapes with the full range of frequencies in tact. The MP3 format is compressed and removes the vital high and low frequencies. But, there is a new format called FLAC - Free Lossless Audio Codec. This format enables us to basically ZIP the audio files up so that the file sizes are much smaller when downloading an entire CD. An hour long CD is around 600 megs, with FLAC it comes down to around 250 or so. Basically all you will need is a free application that will unFLAC (similar to unZIP) the file and then you can play it in your digital players at full fidelity. You should have a high speed connection to download these files as they will still take 20-40 minutes to download. We are asking you to honor the following agreement when you purchase these files from us. We consider this a binding Karmic Agreement if you purchase our audio files in FLAC format. KARMIC AGREEMENT You may put them on your digital players and make as many CD copies for yourself only as you may need for your personal players. By downloading you agree NOT to upload these files on the internet to any peer to peer groups, file sharing sites, newsgroups, etc. Each sound file will be encoded with your order number and is considered for your personal use only.

Here are some URLs to review to get up to speed on the FLAC format - it's FREE, it's EASY TO DO FLAC MAIN SOURCE http://flac.sourceforge.net/ For PC http://www.winamp.com/ (more complicated unless you already use it) http://members.home.nl/w.speek/flac.htm (separate app/more control - use with Itunes) For Mac http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/16458/flacer http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/14246/xact
For Itunes players, you need to get one of the above first to convert the file to an .aif or .wav format before you can play it in Itunes - they are working on their own proprietary format and therefore FLAC cannot be converted in Itunes. Once you get the .aif or .wav file, you can drop it into ITUNES and play it.
Once you get your player, here is a test FLAC file to be sure you can convert and play these files. SELECT 100 ITEMS IN DROP DOWN MENU BELOW TO SEE ALL AVAILABLE FILES AVAILABLE AT ONCE
